Defining the Tasks
It seems overwhelming when you start to realize the complexity of your network and what will be required to completely disassemble it and put it back together in working harmony. At first, I got distracted thinking about every little detail that I knew had to be accomplished. How was I going to get all of this done?
The trick is to keep it simple. I work for an accounting firm of 150 people, and our new facility hadn't even broken ground when I learned we were moving. I decided to take this huge 14-month project and break it down into separate tasks. In essence, I defined these mini projects out of the huge project:
Computer room design
Voice and data cabling
Phone system
Security system
Audiovisual systems
Obviously, your list will meet your specific needs.
