Daily NetInfo Backup
By default, Mac OS X will perform a daily backup of the local NetInfo database at 3:15 a.m. if the computer is running at that time. It does this by using the Unix cron utility and stores the backup as a dump of the NetInfo data at /var/backups/local.nidump. In many cases, provided that a computer runs 24x7 (as most servers do), you can simply rely on this backup file as a means of ensuring that you have a backup of your NetInfo database.
