FileWave and NetOctopus
FileWave, NetOctopus, and LANrev are commercial tools similar in concept to Radmind. They enable you to remotely install applications and updates on workstations throughout your network. Both applications allow you to manage Mac and Windows workstations and both predate Mac OS X, offering management of older Macs. They are also both GUI applications. These tools approach the management of workstations from more of an inventory perspective rather than Radmind’s file system approach. You can view each workstation as an inventory of installed applications and settings in addition to comparing differences between the various application and configuration files. This makes them somewhat more user-friendly and easier to use for deploying specific applications or determining what is installed on specific workstations. Like Radmind and Remote Desktop, they need to be deployed to existing systems using either a manual installation or as part of a disk image–based deployment.
