Summary
The Nikon Coolpix P1 is a nice camera with some neat features. While the disassembly process had a few obstacles, the camera was fairly easy to take apart and put back together again. Its eight megapixel shot will satisfy all but the most serious photographer. In addition, the small form factor makes it easy to keep the camera with you at all times.
As for the wireless transfer process, I was particularly pleased to see that it supported WPA, which is very uncommon for wireless gadgets. Unfortunately, it appears as if there was little thought put into the security of the wireless transfer process itself. If installed, the Nikon service leaves a hole on the host PC that an attacker could abuse by uploading their own pictures onto your computer. In addition, the databases were very poorly secured using the obvious password of 'Nikon' to keep out unwanted viewers.
So, my advice? Keep the camera and avoid the wireless transfer software . . . but then again, if not for the wireless capabilities, why else would you purchase a Coolpix P1?
