Inventory Control
Another key to cost savings with DTMS is keeping track of which software is installed where and making sure it’s all legal. Inventory management is one of the basic functions of DTMS, and almost all programs offer it in one form or another. The software checks all the desktops on the network to see which programs they have installed and determine version numbers and patch status. Most of these programs can also check to make sure that the software is covered by a current license. Some of them also inventory the hardware, including type of processor, hard drive, graphics card, and RAM.
