Special Consideration for PageMaker Users
InDesign CS2 provides for a smooth transition for former PageMaker users by incorporating several popular PageMaker features into this new CS version. In addition to features and tools similar to PageMaker’s, InDesign CS2 has training materials and special help files that should assist transitioning users to adapt to the new product while continuing to work in an environment that should feel familiar and comfortable to longtime users of PageMaker. Figure 3.1 shows the PageMaker toolbar for your review.
InDesign CS2 features that will look and feel familiar to PageMaker users include:
PageMaker 6.0 publication converter
InBooklet plug-in for document imposition
Automated bullets and numbering
Data merge
Position tool
PageMaker-compatible keyboard shortcuts
PageMaker toolbar
Obviously, a great deal of thought and support has gone into protecting and preparing PageMaker users for their eventual conversion to InDesign.
