Renting Music in the Future
Renting music is still new. There will be teething pains. I suspect, however, that it will grow in popularity. I can certainly see Apple introducing a "download-all-you-can-for-$19.99/month" type of plan. The blur will occur when legal video downloads begin. We are all used to renting movies for $3.95. I certainly don't want to be forced to buy a movie if I know I will watch it only once. If iTunes Store does sell movies, it will have to include a rental service, too. Why not extend it to music?
Whatever happens, there is one group that will benefit from the increased availability of legally downloaded music: the consumer. And that rocks!
