Objective
Once you have created the proposal, it should sell you and your concept. If it does not accomplish this, you will not be given an opportunity to meet with the venture capitalist. Your objective is to create a business proposal that will lead to a meeting between you and the venture capitalist. That meeting is the subject of Chapter 5. Don't squander the opportunity to meet with the venture capitalist by giving him a number where you cannot be reached, especially one that rings and is not answered. A venture capitalist will try several times and then will stop trying.
Remember, you are selling to the VC, so be available or have an answering service take your calls. Carry a cell phone or a beeper. No one likes to arrange meetings leaving voice mail. Of course if you can begin chatting via e-mail, then arranging a meeting time will be easy. Before you meet with the venture capitalist, you should prepare yourself for the many questions he will have. Chapter 4 deals with the questions most often asked by a venture capitalist and shows you how to answer some of them.
