Connecting to the Broadband Service
Some installers are in such a hurry to get things done that they'll forget to tell you a few details, such as how to log into the broadband service. That's rightyour broadband service might require you to log into the service just as you did for dial-up, but the process varies depending on the vendor. Most vendors use a technique called Point-to-Point Protocol over Ethernet (PPPoE) to authenticate your system. Depending on your setup, this might mean connecting to your router and configuring it to send the username and password provided by the broadband service. If you see security error messages when you attempt to use the broadband connection, check with the broadband service provider to ensure that you have the correct authentication information.
