Update Old Networks
Most modern networks use some form of twisted-pair cabling. However, it's possible to run into older networks that use some other cabling method, such as coaxial cabling (10Base-2, for example). The older network setups won't work well with your new broadband installation, and it's probably best to update. Although running new cable is a pain, doing so will save you time and effort. Most home systems can easily get by with a 10Base-T or 100Base-T setup. (Check out this list of standard Ethernet designations for more details.)
