On the Road
Taking a trip without a cell phone is like starting the morning without coffeeyou can do it, but you run the risk of sleeping through it.
Let's start with the alarm clock feature. No reason to rely on grumpy companions or old-fashioned travel alarms. Set your phone and you're good to go.
Invest in a cell phone car charger that plugs into your cigarette lighter adapter, and buy an extra battery.
You can also purchase emergency batteries, some of which are better than others. For example, Cellboost, which comes in different models to fit different phones, claims to provide about 60 minutes of talk time very inexpensively. (Check out The Travel Insider's review.)
Sometimes it's good to lose track of time, but if you're not even sure what time zone you're in, check your phone. Some phones have a world clock that tells the time in different zones.
