Grid Systems Planning
In the grid system's design planning, a high priority must be placed on providing the following features:
A flexible but also extensible and scalable grid-based system architecture supporting the discovery, management, and high-speed movement of data, software, and access to all available resources
A multi-application and data repository, including storage for testing and simulation data, associated metadata, grid extensions, and other tools for managing data input and output
A grid-enabled collaboration framework, including real-time and near-real-time capabilities for remote participation of users for testing activities, and tools for viewing and sharing project information among participants
A community repository of simulation software and analytical tools, including grid extensions to assist eventual researchers in using the tools, and a library of sample runs
The grid integration team will need to interact with the end user community over many months to understand user business requirements, and to incorporate these requirements into the grid system architecture specification and project plan. This is not an easy processit's both complex and time-consumingbut very necessary.
