Your Mail and Calendar Database
Since the creation of Notes, the mail database has been one of the most important databases on the desktop. Your mail database includes not only your electronic mail, but also your calendar, meeting manager, and To Do list. Keeping all of this information in a single database makes everything easily organized. Another important reason for keeping this information together is for replication. Domino's replication feature enables you to replicate this database to your laptop or another machine so that you can handle your email and calendar tasks offline. See Chapter 38, "Replication and Its Administration," for more information about replication.
You can display your calendar with a variety of views, including views for one day, two days, one week, two weeks, or one month (see Figure 3.13). Click the appropriate tab to view scheduled events in a particular Calendar view. The Day, Week, and Month views also allow you to filter the displayed events to only the work week. Figure 3.13 demonstrates how to choose between the various views for the Week. When you view either the weekly or monthly formats, you can also double-click a date's header line to zoom to see the contents of that day. If you double-click a particular calendar entry, you see a zoomed view of that entry.
Figure 3.13 Scheduled events can be displayed using the Day, Week, Month, and Meetings views.
You can set several kinds of user preferences in your mail and calendar database. To access the preference settings, follow these steps:
Open the database by clicking the calendar bookmark icon.
From the menu bar, select Actions, Tools, Preferences to open the Preferences dialog.
