Showing Your Online Presence to Other People
As you'll see more clearly in Lesson 4, "Finding Groove Contacts," Groove provides features that help you stay aware of what other people are currently doing in Groove. For example, you can usually tell whether your contacts are online, active in a shared space, and if so, which shared space.
However, Groove recognizes the importance of balancing the convenience of providing this awareness against allowing you and your contacts to maintain privacy, when desired.
Groove lets you choose between showing or hiding your online presence to other people. Select GoTo, My Account, and then select the Account panel. The bottom pane of the Account panel shows options for showing your online presence. To limit how you show your online presence, uncheck Everyone; then select one or both of the other two options, or leave all options unchecked (see Figure 3.8).
Figure 3.8 Select options in the Account panel for showing your online presence to other Groove contacts.
If you uncheck the presence option, your contact icon will always appear to be offline in the places in Groove that show online status.
