Metrowerks CodeWarrior Wireless Studio 7
The Metrowerks CodeWarrior IDE has changed and grown with the times, from its start as a popular desktop C/C++ development environment, to its status as the virtual standard for PalmOS C programming environments, and now on into the world of J2ME. CodeWarrior stands out from the RIM and Sun tools mentioned in this article through its inclusion of a powerful, full-blown Integrated Development Environment, complete with helpful features such as wizards, code completion, and a powerful debugger that can function as either a client or a server at debug time.
The CodeWarrior Wireless Studio also contains a number of powerful J2ME developer tools, including the PointBase Micro RDBMS, kXML and kSOAP libraries, the Softwired iBus/Mobile JMS client, and a number of vendor-specific SDKs from Motorola, Siemens, Sony-Ericsson, and Nokia. Metrowerks' popular CodeWarriorU online training is an added benefit for developers new to J2ME. To complement and extend the initial release of Wireless Studio, Metrowerks is planning the release of an entire suite of mobile Java development products. These include CodeWarrior Wireless Enterprise Studio and the Wireless Studio Handheld, Entertainment, Client/Server Editions (each including a different subset of tools and utilities targeted at different markets).
