Network Quality of Service
In a previous article, we looked at various connectivity options, including wireless networks. One thing that is for sure is that no one solution can guarantee 100% coverage all of the time. Although integrated solutions that work with cellular and wireless LAN networks may become the norm in the near future, coverage outside of major urban centers will be pretty sparse. Cellular roaming for data applications is not mature, so that even if there is coverage in the area, you may not be able to access it unless your carrier has agreements with the local provider. This all points to the fact that most enterprise solutions should be designed to function offline (that is, using some form of synchronization).
