Summary
The Silverjack engineers researched embedded Linux and found a wealth of online information on ports, tools, boards, distributions, tools, and kernel versions. They summarized their findings by developing the Project Trailblazer strategic direction, which consists of three areas: kernel porting, source code, and kernel version. After research, thought, and discussions with vendors and suppliers, they decided on target hardware. They ordered target boards from Tri-M, Embedded Planet, and Brightstar Engineering. While they waited, they learned about cross-compiling the GNU tool chain and developed the buildtoolchain scripts. The engineers are now ready and anxious to boot their target systems when they arrive.
