VoiceXML Development Requirements
Introduction
The voice user interface (VUI) defines the expected end-user experience of the VoiceXML application. Clearly, the end-user experience defines the success or failure of your application. Suppose that the VoiceXML application will be deployed internationally; a VUI developed for one spoken language clearly cannot be fully reused for a different spoken language. What about the text-to-speech (TTS) language to be used? Do you know which languages (or dialects) are spoken in the regions of the countries in which you plan to deploy? How many subscribers can use your service?
Many questions must be answered for the VoiceXML class of applications. This article summarizes some of the critical issues that must be addressed even before the actual development begins.
