The best way to understand how to take advantage of object-relational capabilities is to have a varied set of implementation examples. The following 10 chapters and their related appendixes cover 10 Bladelets (components) that can be applied in a variety of contexts. Each chapter describes several contexts in which they can be used, hoping to stimulate your imagination to find new ways to apply these components to your environment. The Bladelets are independent from each other. This means that you can read the chapters in any order you see fit. Some Bladelets may be directly useful in your environment, and others may help you better understand how to use the technology. You may even find situations in which some of the processing done in one Bladelet could be directly applied to your environment even though the Bladelet covers an unrelated subject. Because the book comes with all the source code on a CD, you can extract what fits your needs and leave the rest.
We hope that the breadth of areas covered in these chapters will help your understanding of this technology and that some of the Bladelets will be of benefit to your environment.
