About This Article
This article is excerpted from Inside Citrix MetaFrame: Implementing MetaFrame XP/1.8 and Windows Terminal Services by Ted Harwood (New Riders Publishing, 2002, ISBN 0735711925).
Besides the methods described here, there are many other options for providing remote access to Terminal Servers besides simply opening ports through a firewall. Many companies choose to deploy Virtual Private Networking technology for securely controlling and encrypting access to internal servers across the Internet. You also might want to investigate setting up dial-in access to your Terminal Servers. Both of these topics are covered in detail in Chapter 16, "Dial-In and VPN Access."
You also will find more detailed information on accessing both your Terminal Servers and your Citrix MetaFrame servers in Chapter 17, "Firewalls and SSL Relay".
