Summary
Today's lesson introduced basic concepts of Visual Basic, .NET, and Internet Information Services. The remaining lessons will build on this foundation, showing you how to develop sophisticated Web applications and Web Services. Although today's lesson took basic steps, including two "Hello World"style applications, future lessons will use much more sophisticated examples.
If you aren't comfortable with the Internet Services Manager, take time out to experiment with the program before moving on to tomorrow's lesson. Try to locate all the directories on your hard disk that are associated with each predefined virtual directory on your computer. You may even experiment by creating some new virtual directories, or starting and stopping the Internet Information Services Web server.
