CoffeeCup HTML Editor 9.0
CoffeeCup is an often-overlooked HTML editor that gives you more value for your money than any other HTML editors on the market today. At a price of $49, I guess you could say that CoffeeCup is almost giving this great program away (especially considering the price tags some of the "big" HTML editors such as Dreamweaver). And it even works for both newbies and professionals!
In General
You can log on to ZDnet.com and have a look at the approval rating of this product to get an idea of how pleased users are with it (93% of users recommend using it). The general idea is that you get more bang for your buck. At $49 for a full registration, this product gives you, by far, the most/best features and customer support for the money you're paying.
Although the user interface is not as easy to understand as those of Dreamweaver or FrontPage, the low price is definitely worth taking a while to read through the extensive manual and learn as you go. If you are a new user, the several wizards guide you through setting up more complex elements of Web pages, such as creating tables. However, I strongly encourage those of you who have no HTML knowledge and are considering using CoffeeCup to read through some basic HTML tutorials or buy one of the many available books (try any search engine, such as http://www.google.com or http://www.altavista.com). Basic coding knowledge is still required if you want to design more complex Web pages, although the program has become more WYSIWYG with every new version.
A thing that I like about CoffeeCup is that many of the program's options are easily customizable, which will save you lots of time if you are working on very similar pages for a long time (for example, the customized functions work kind of like a "template" when designing your pages). It was also fun to find a big library of images and JavaScripts that came with the program. The new sound gallery and easy "split-screen" editing and previewing make this HTML editor perfect for the intermediate Web designer or anyone who doesn't want to put down lots of money for a (very reasonable) editor. It's highly recommended!
Some Pros
CoffeeCup is very inexpensive for what you get.
It has a clean HTML interface, split-screen design, and previewing.
It's easily customizable.
Lots of graphics, sound files, and JavaScripts are included.
Many extras accompany it, including a thesaurus, HTML check, font designer, and easy-to-add HTML effects that you would just not expect to come with the software for the price you're paying.
Some Cons
CoffeeCup is not recommended if you are managing big Web sites. It's not easy to organize many files and folders in a categorized order.
If you don't know basic HTML coding, you need to get studying!
