Updating Apps to New Versions
After you’ve installed some apps on your Apple TV, expect new versions of those apps to be released regularly. App updates fix bugs, add features, and make sure the app keeps working properly with new versions of the tvOS that runs the Apple TV.
Updating apps is almost always the right choice. Occasionally an update has a bug that causes problems, but developers usually fix those very quickly.
You can update your apps two ways: automatically or manually.
Enable Automatic App Updates
On the iPhone or iPad, allowing apps to automatically update means sacrificing battery life and potentially going over your monthly data limit (if you enable it to use cellular data for updates). The Apple TV doesn’t have either of those restrictions, so setting it to automatically update its apps when new versions are available makes sense. Here’s how:
Launch Settings.
Select Apps.
Select the Automatically Update Apps menu to toggle it to On.
Now you can be sure you’re always running the latest version of your apps, with all the features and bug fixes that come with them.
