XForms: Where Do We Go from Here?
The above discussion only gives you a flavor of what's being considered as the future of form-based technology that may one day become pervasive. You can read more about these standards and the working draft of the proposal at http://www.w3.org/MarkUp/Forms.
Currently, none of the major browsers support any of these features. One Java-based browser that can provide you with a sense of these forms is X-Smiles.
Another interesting example of this technology is XML WebAccess from Mozquito Technologies. The technology combines XForms with Form Markup Language (FML) to provide the same flexibility to developers using current browsers. The output generated by the server is a mix of XHTML and JavaScript. They have also provided a solutions server for interesting examples at http://solutions.mozquito.com.
