Password Protection Options
User authentication support for password-protected Web and ftp sites is also available via www4mail. To access such Web sites that conform to the pattern "protocol://username:password@site/directory", you simply need to know (and then pass on) the correct username and password. If the username or password contains an @-sign, you prefix it with a back slash. Once you have received the www4mail reply, you will be able to navigate to such protected pages without further authentication www4mail will do it automatically for you. However, passwords passed this way, like everything else using normal email, are unencrypted and may be intercepted on the Internet.
If you are interested in using www4mail to its fullest potential and need more details on the www4mail options available, updated information can be found at www4mail.org. Otherwise, send an email to any www4mail server and type "help" in the body of the message.
