Pop-Up Location Information Be Gone!
As annoying as a Web pop-up ad, Microsoft brings you the Location Information dialog box as the first screen of the Network Connections Wizard, whether you want it or not. Truly annoying, especially if you are trying to create multiple IP connections for your machine through a pair of network interface cards. Why does Microsoft assume that just because you select the Network Connections Wizard, you get the Location Information page? I hope they fix it because their marketing literature claims that more than 75% of Windows XP users will be on TCP/IP-based networks, yet their Network Connections Wizard assumes that it's a dial-up connection you are creating. Figure 1 shows the annoying Location Information dialog box you have to punch through to get to the true network connection steps.
Figure 1 -Annoying and unneeded, Microsoft presents this dialog box at the start of every network connection session.
After you get past that hurdle, you're onto the true Network Connections Wizard, with its standard navigational approach. Figure 2 shows what Microsoft needs to make the first page in the Network Connections Wizard.
Figure 2-Microsoft needs to get rid of the Location Information dialog box and start here.
