Configuring and Managing Resources
One of the most confusing pieces of SMS is its capability to collect software and hardware inventory for a site. This exam will test your knowledge on this activity. (Think hands-on experience.)
After the hardware and software inventory data has been collected, then what? You need to know how to work with the data. Specifically, how will you view it? How can you work with the data through the SMS console? And can you customize the data you've collected?
On the software side of things, can you use SMS Installer effectively? Can you create queries to locate target computers? You have to. You also have to create a package, program, and advertisement to distribute the software. The exam will test your ability to use the SMS client software to install the application on the client computer.
This objective rounds things out with your ability to use and configure software metering. The exam will test your ability to configure software metering servers and client components. You need to be able to add products to be licensed and configure the associated licensing options. Some products you may not want to meter, so know how to exclude items from being metered. As an Administrator, you also need to be able to create reports and graphs derived from the metering data. Sound like fun?
