Linux
Another certification that is becoming popular is Linux certification. Last year, Linux was one of the fastest-growing operating systems, and as it becomes more prevalent in business computing environments, companies will need more qualified people to keep the system running. The problem with a Linux certification is that there is no standard credential. Because Linux is an open-source product, several different companies are developing Linux systems. Caldera, Red Hat, and others have developed Linux servers, and each company has its own certification that is specific to its product. In other words, a Linux certification from Caldera may not be helpful if you are running a Linux system from Red Hat. In most cases, the safest route is to determine which Linux system your employer is using and then pursue that certification. In fact, many employers will pay for your additional training as part of a benefits package or as an incentive.
