Categorize Email Messages
On the Email app home screen, you can change how you view messages and also move messages into folders so that you can easily find messages. Within the Email home screen, tap the Menu icon at the right side of the blue menu bar at the top of the screen, as you saw in Figure 4. Then tap View As in the menu.
The View As window gives you the option of viewing messages in Standard View (the default) or Conversation View. Standard View shows a list of individual messages sorted by date or by another criteria you set, such as by sender. Conversation view groups messages, so you can read the original message and all replies related to that message. Each conversation entry in the list (see Figure 5) shows the name of the recipient, the date the last message in the conversation was sent, and the number of messages in the conversation.
Figure 5 Conversations in the list are ordered from newest at the top of the list to oldest at the bottom.
Tap the conversation entry to read the most recent message in the conversation on the screen. Previous messages in the conversation appear as tiles above the message, so you can tap the tile to read an earlier message.
You can also create new folders to place within an existing folder or as a new folder by tapping the Menu icon on the menu bar (as you saw in Figure 4) and then tap Create Folder in the menu. Within the Create Folder window, as shown in Figure 6, swipe up and down in the window (if necessary) to view all existing folders. For this example, tap Root in the list, as shown in Figure 6.
Figure 6 The Root entry is the first entry within the Folders for This Account section in the list.
In the Create Folder window that appears on the screen, type the new folder name, and then tap OK in the window. If you don’t see your new folder in the folders list, swipe down the list until you see it. Note that you can delete the folder by tapping and holding on the folder in the list until you see a pop-up window appear; delete the folder by tapping Delete in the window. In the Delete pop-up window that appears, tap Delete.
