Place a Widget on a Home Screen
Now that you know about the widgets you can add to a Home screen, here’s a quick reminder of how to place a widget on a Home screen. For this example, I’ll place the Google Play Music (1 x 1) widget on the Home screen.
- Open the Widgets screen if it isn’t open already.
- Navigate to page 4 within the screen.
Press and hold your finger on the Google Play Music (1 x 1) widget. The Edit Home screen appears, as shown in Figure 9; the Home screen appears in a smaller area of the screen, and the widget you’re moving appears as an outline on the screen.
Figure 9 The Edit Home Screen shows where the Google Play Music widget icon appears on the page.
- Move the outline over the Home screen to which you want to add the widget. In this example, I’ll move the outline over the main Home screen (the one that opens when you start your Galaxy Tab 4).
- Release your finger. The widget appears on the Home screen; tap the widget icon to play a random song in your playlist.
Now you’re up to speed with widgets, and you can use them to access the Tab 4 features you use most often from your Home screen.
