Expand a Notification
Notifications are brief by design. However, in KitKat you can expand a notification tile to get some more information about it. This way, you can determine whether the notification is something you should look into right away.
When you view a notification in the Quick Settings and Notification screen, which in this example is a number of new email messages in my inbox (see Figure 6), tap and hold your finger on the notification tile and then swipe downward.

The subjects of the two most recent messages you received appear within the notification tile. If you want more information and/or want to see the rest of the messages in your inbox, tap the notification tile in the list. Note that after you expand a notification tile, you can't shrink the tile back to its original size.
Some notifications can't be expanded. For example, in Figure 6 the first notification in the list states that the Tab 3 is connected as a media device. I can't expand this notification tile because the message in the tile is the notification in its entirety.
