Sync Content with Your Computer
Much of the content you view on your Fire phone is Amazon content and can be accessed through the Amazon Cloud. You can also transfer content from other sources onto your Fire phone by using the Micro SD port to connect your phone to a computer as an external drive—a process also known as side loading. If the video, music, book, or other content is of a compatible file type to the Fire phone, you can essentially drag the content from your computer to the device, or vice versa.
Transfer Content from a PC
A Windows Vista or later PC views the Fire phone as just an external USB drive when you connect it using the Micro USB connector. Follow these steps to transfer content from a PC to your Fire phone.
- Connect the Fire phone to the PC using the micro USB connector. The AutoPlay window displays.
Click Open Device to View Files in the AutoPlay window. Alternatively, you can go to the Start button, click Computer, and find your Fire phone under Portable devices.
- Under Computer, click Fire.
Double-click Internal Storage.
- Select the files you want from the PC.
Drag the files into the proper folder on your Fire phone.
Transfer Content from a Mac
Before you can transfer files from a Mac to your Fire phone, you first need to download a program named Android File Transfer at www.android.com/filetransfer. Follow the installation directions, and then when you connect your phone, it should appear as an external drive on the Mac.
- Connect the Fire phone to the Mac using the micro USB connector. The File transfer window opens.
- Select the files you want from Mac.
Drag the files into the proper folder on your Fire phone.
