What About Licenses?
Don't forget licensing! Licenses are easy to disregard or misunderstand, but when you're visited by the "license police," you'll find that insufficient licensing can be a very expensive proposition. (On the other hand, over-licensing can be an unnecessary expense.) Here's what you need to find out:
Have someone show you where the license records are kept. Make sure that all your client and server software has evidence of licensing. Pay particular attention to versions and numbers of copies. Do your servers require client access licenses? If so, are you licensed on a per-seat or per-server basis? Is this the most economical method of licensing?
Are there checks in place to ensure against bootleg software? How confident are you that they're working?
