IV. Conclusions
The effect of the interleaver depth in the QAM receiver to combat burst errors generated by bursty CSO/CTB distortions in hybrid AM-VSB/256-QAM video lightwave transmission system has been investigated. The measured peak CSO distortions using modulated video carriers exhibit a bursty behavior compared with CW carriers. By frequency offsetting of the QAM channel relative to the dominant CSO distortions with an I=204, J=1 interleaver, nearly error-free transmission was achieved, even in the presence of large CSO distortions (> 55 dBc). These results should help in the selection of the proper interleaver depth as well as the proper QAM channel-frequency plan, depending on the magnitude of the CSO/CTB distortions in the cable-TV network.
