Connecting Windows 2000 to the Internet
There's an old saying that goes, "No man is an island." In today's corporate computing environment, you might change that to say, "No LAN is an island," or "No WAN is an island." Certainly few corporate computing environments operate in isolation today. Virtually every business is connected in one way or another to the global Internet.
With the release of Windows 2000, Microsoft included a number of features to facilitate and enhance your company's connectivity with the Internet. One new feature is what Microsoft calls connection sharing. Connection sharing is one part of Microsoft's implementation of Network Address and Port Translation (NAPT).
