Conclusion
This article took a quick look at two of the architectural changes, specifically the devfs filesystem and the shared memory filesystem. These are just two of the many changes that have been made to the new 2.4.0 kernel, and two which you likely would overlook considering many of the other changes. But these two new filesystems are important for Linux, and in the future they will become even more important.
