From the main screen of the Instagram app, tap on the star-shaped icon to view thumbnails of the most popular images currently posted on the site. Or, click on the circular heart-shaped icon to view the Instagram image feeds of the specific people you’re following.
Like all of the other online social networking apps and services, Instagram is constantly evolving. Plus, now that the service is owned by Facebook, you can expect even greater integration between Facebook and Instagram in terms of how photos are viewed and shared online in the near future.
Whether you want to share photos of your own personal adventures, your kids, pets, or the world around you, Instagram offers an easy way to express your creativity and communicate using digital images. However, sharing images from your life also takes away from your personal privacy, as people can view your images, potentially determine exactly where they’re taken, plus learn more about you by viewing your Instagram profile.
So, just as you would when using any online social networking service, use common sense when deciding what types of photos to publish and when composing the captions that will accompany your photos. And, if you’re somewhere you’re not supposed to be, refrain from attaching your geotag location to your image postings. Remember, unless you set your Instagram feed to private, your family (including your parents or kids), coworkers, boss, teachers, or anyone else can view your images anytime.
