Which Notebook is Best for You?
Which type of notebook PC is best for you? It really depends on how you use your computer.
- If all you do is check your Facebook feed, view some photos and movies, and maybe send the occasional email, then you can make due with a netbook or tablet.
- If you need to do more serious work, but still want portability, then a traditional notebook or ultrabook is a must.
- If you expect to do all your computing in one spot, such as your home office, then a desktop replacement model is nice.
All that said, most users choose traditional notebooks, because they do everything you need them to do at a reasonable price. It’s hard to go wrong with a $350 or $400 notebook, whether you use it at home or on the road.
There are exceptions, of course. If you really need a larger screen – and don’t plan to travel with your PC – then consider a slightly more expensive desktop replacement model. And if you’re a hip and stylish road warrior with a big budget, then splurge and go with an ultrabook.
Whatever type of notebook you decide on, do some shopping and compare specs. Within a given category you still have options in terms of memory (more is better), hard disk size, screen size, and the like. Make sure you choose a model that feels good to you and will do what you need it to do. With so many choices available, chances are you can find exactly what you need.
