Embedding a Workbook in the Web App
One of the most popular requests for the Web Apps team was the ability to embed a workbook (or presentation for that matter) in a blog. And now you can! If you have an Excel workbook (or PowerPoint presentation) file on SkyDrive, you can embed that in a web page or blog. The steps are essentially the same, so if you’re more interested in embedding presentations, stick around to get the “gist.”
First of all, the file must be saved to a public folder on SkyDrive. Sign in to SkyDrive, then open the workbook in the Excel Web App. Click Share, Embed to display the Embed dialog box (see Figure 3).
Figure 3 Customize how you embed your workbook in the Embed dialog box.
Make your selections in the Embed dialog box, then copy the contents of the Embed Code box. The HTML code you just copied is an iFrame tag, which is supported in most blog services and web authoring environments, so all it takes is a simple copy and paste to embed the workbook. When you are ready, paste the HTML code into your web page or blog’s HTML.
