Don't Display Graphics

Here's a big speed up that may or may not appeal to you. Many web pages are overloaded with photos and other images; these images are big files that can take a long time to download and display, especially if you have a slow web connection. You can speed up the loading graphics-intensive pages by simply turning off the graphics. That leaves you with a text-only web page, of course -- but that page will load a lot faster than it did with all the images intact.

To turn off the display of images in Internet Explorer 9, follow these steps:

  1. Click the Tools (gear) button and select Internet Options.
  2. When the Internet Options dialog box appears, select the Advanced tab.
  3. Scroll down to the Multimedia section and uncheck the Show Pictures option.
  4. Click OK.

And, while you're at it, you can further speed up web page display by unchecking the Play Animations in Webpages and Play Sounds in Webpages options.

Application and System Logs

Pearson automatically collects log data to help ensure the delivery, availability and security of this site.
