ThinkGeek's Gadget Update: Summer of the Geeks?
It seems as if every company these days has at least one internal memo outlying plans for World Domination. Could be a media company that wants to build an oligopoly or a smallish e-tailer that just wants to sell gadgets, toys, and gizmos that have little use other than invigorating geeks to stick with the bleeding edge and hope that someday, somehow, technology will rule over status. That could happen, right? We here at ThinkGeek would like to think so.
Cubicle procrastination is an important skill every office worker should master. Why get your work done immediately when you can stress out and finish it at the last minute? ThinkGeek is aware of your procrastination deficiencies, and we want to help. What better way to waste time than by fiddling with some of our new construction-based toys? Constructing something is accomplishing something useful... right?
Toys @ Work
The Rollerscape Desktop Roller Coaster Construction Set allows you to create your own twisting, turning, looping mini coaster. Simply design and build your desktop roller coaster using the included construction pieces, snap on the tracks wherever you like, and then begin the testing phase by taking one of the included marbles for a joy ride. It takes some time to fine-tune your coaster construction and your poor marbles will have some nasty falls in the process, but what better way to avoid writing that security review document?

If fiddling about with fast-moving marbles and centripetal force isn't your bag, you might check out the new GeoPanel construction set. GeoPanels extend the standard GeoMag idea of steel marbles and magnetic connecting rods by adding clear multi-colored panels into the mix. The panels can be used to flesh out the skeletal simplicity of GeoMags to create solid shapes that are significantly stronger. Why do you care about stronger magnetic based constructions? We're not quite sure, but it does waste time in a somewhat pleasurable manner.

Design-ish types may want to pick up some PixelBlocks. These colorful translucent building blocks are inspired by computer pixels. Using the unique peg-and-hole construction along with tooth-and-groove combinations, you can build colorful and complex creations effortlessly in either 2-D or 3-D. With 2800 pieces in the set, it's enough to build a scale model of your entire office and have some blocks left over. This could be critical in establishing a fire escape plan; you had better get on it right away.
