LinkedIn Skills
LinkedIn Skills offers a great way to view the most popular skills on LinkedIn profiles, find industry leaders who possess these skills, add skills to your own profile, and even find jobs that require specific skills.
To get started, visit http://www.linkedin.com/skills while signed in to LinkedIn. Enter a skill in the search box and click the Search button. For example, let's say that one of your primary skills is iPhone development. Figure 5 shows the iPhone development page on LinkedIn Skills.

In the left column, you can view links to related skills that you might want to include on your own LinkedIn profile.
On the right, you'll find buttons to share on LinkedIn and Twitter, a skill growth chart, a list of companies related to this skill, and a list of job openings that require this skill.
The center column displays the following:
- A brief overview of this skill, including its percentage increase or decrease in popularity over the past year.
- The Add Skill button, which enables you to add this skill to your LinkedIn profile. After adding a skill, be sure to edit it later to include your proficiency level and years of experience.
- A list of LinkedIn users who have this skill. Note that the majority of people who display in this list are industry experts, rather than average users. This makes this section useful for people looking to find the leaders in their field, but less useful for recruiters looking for potential candidates.
- A list of suggested LinkedIn groups related to this skill that you might want to join.
