Selecting Page Elements
When you want to determine which elements appear on your Page, open the Edit Page page and select the Apps tab. By default, Facebook includes the following elements:
- Events. This is a tab on your Page where you can post notice of upcoming events, appearances, and the like.
- Photos. This is a tab for all the pictures you upload to your Page, either individually or in separate photo albums.
- Links. This tab lets you post links to web pages, blogs, photos, videos, and the like. You can even link to other Pages on Facebook.
- Notes. This tab lets you post longer messages than you can via status updates. Think of your Notes page as a blog, a place to write to your heart’s content.
- Video. This is a tab for all the videos you upload to your Page.
To delete any of these elements, open the Apps tab on the Edit Page page and click the X next to the item to delete.
To select additional elements, click the Browse More Applications link at the bottom of the Apps tab. This displays the All Apps page; click Pages in the sidebar to view those apps specifically designed for Facebook Pages (see Figure 7).

You can then search for or browse through several hundred apps from Facebook and third-party developers. For example, you might want to add the YouTube app to display YouTube videos on your Page. Or you might want to add the Promotions app to help you run interactive promotions on your Page. Or, if you run a restaurant, add the Menu tab for Restaurants app, to display your menu on your Facebook Page.
(One popular app not enabled by default, although it probably should be, is the Discussion Boards app. This adds a Discussions tab to your Page, where your fans can talk amongst themselves, as it were. Just go to the apps directory, search for “discussion boards,” then install the app.)
