The back of each Smart Cover has a soft microfiber lining, which actively helps to keeps the tablet's screen clean and smudge-free, each and every time it's put on or taken off. You'll notice that as soon as you lift a Smart Cover off of the iPad 2's screen, the unit will turn itself on. And when the cover is placed back over the unit, the screen shuts off automatically, and the iPad 2 goes into sleep mode.
