Set Up Your Wireless Data Account
Before you can begin fully using your iPad 2 Wi-Fi + 3G model, it's necessary to first sign up for and activate a wireless data plan with either AT&T Wireless or Version, depending on which iPad 2 model you've purchased. At the time of purchase, you needed to select a wireless data service provider.
If you're upgrading from the original iPad and already have an AT&T Wireless unlimited data account set up for $30.00 per month, you'll discover that this service plan is no longer available. However, you can transfer your existing AT&T Wireless account to your iPad 2. To do this, the transfer needs to be done by telephone, by calling (800) 331-0500.
You can set up a new wireless data account on your iPad 2 directly from your tablet by making sure it's not set in Airplane Mode and by tapping on the Safari app icon.
A window will appear on your iPad 2 stating "You have not signed up for a data plan." By clicking on the "Now" icon that appears within this window, you'll be able to set up and activate a wireless data plan in about five minutes using a major credit card.
