GoLive and File Formats
GoLive opens Web pages and Web sites created in GoLive, as well as HTML (and related) documents generated by other programs. It can work with text files and graphics in a variety of file formats. GoLive also takes advantage of Adobe's Smart Objects technology, which enables you to place artwork from Illustrator, Photoshop, or LiveMotion directly into the GoLive page. GoLive optimizes the file for the Web and stores the optimization information. Should the source file be changed, GoLive can quickly and easily update the Web page. You can double-click the image in GoLive to launch the parent application and edit the file.
Although the standard graphics formats for the Web are JPEG, GIF, and PNG, GoLive can work with a variety of other formats as smart objects. Photoshop (PSD), Illustrator (AI), LiveMotion (LIV), PDF, TIFF, and EPS files can all be used. In addition, less-common file formats are available, including Amiga IFF, BMP, PCX, PICT, Pixar, and Targa.
Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG) and Flash (SWF) files can also be used in GoLive. SVG files can be generated in Illustrator, and both Illustrator and LiveMotion can produce SWF files.
