Share Your Recordings with Dropbox
With the iPad edition of VoiceRecorder, you can tap on the gear-shaped icon in the upper-right corner of the screen to adjust the recording's audio quality (choose Low, Medium, or High), which also determines the file size of the digital recording.
You can transfer, share, and store your recordings online by linking the app to the Dropbox file-sharing service. This option is offered in the iPad version of VoiceRecorder only (see Figure 4).
Figure 4 Using Dropbox, you can easily share your audio files via the Web.
Dropbox is an online-based file-sharing service that works with Macs, PCs, and the iPad, and it can be used to share or transfer files between users or devices. You can set up and use a basic Dropbox account (with up to 2GB of storage space) for free via your Internet-connected computer. It takes less than three minutes, on average, to download the free Dropbox software and then set up an account.
After your Dropbox account is set up on your iPad, access the VoiceRecorder app, click on the gear icon in the upper-right corner of the screen, and tap on the green Link Dropbox icon. Using the iPad's virtual keyboard, enter the email account and password associated with your Dropbox account, and then click on the Link icon (see Figure 5). This process only needs to be done once. You can also create a Dropbox account from your iPad by clicking on the Create An Account link, located toward the bottom of the VoiceRecorder Link Account window.
When your iPad is connected to the Internet (via 3G or Wi-Fi), you can transfer VoiceRecorder audio files of any size to the Dropbox service. There you can access them yourself (via your PC or Mac), or share the audio files with other people who have access to your Dropbox account.
