New Competition Could Mean New Service Plans
As both AT&T Wireless and Verizon begin to compete head-to-head for iPhone market share, as consumers we can hope that in the future more competitive service plan pricing will be announced by both companies. Right now, only minor price differences exist between iPhone 4 service plans offered by the two companies.
Last-Minute Considerations
Before choosing an iPhone service provider, research any new service being plans offered by both companies, and also determine the quality of the service offered in your city (as well as in cities you'll frequently be traveling to). Some users complain about over-saturated networks in certain cities, making it difficult to send/receive calls or access the wireless web, for example.
Keep in mind that service plan offerings are subject to change, but once you sign your contract and activate your iPhone 4, the terms and conditions of the plan you choose will remain in effect for two years. As soon as your phone is activated, confirm that the service plan you requested is what was activated.
Oh, and one last thing to consider: If you pay attention to the AT&T Wireless and Verizon ads stating that faster, 4G speeds are on the horizon (the iPhone 4 is a 3G-compatible phone), that may be the case, but you will need to upgrade to a new iPhone model—potentially the iPhone 5—to benefit from faster 4G connectivity, as the current models are not compatible with this technology.
If you have questions about the iPhone 4 or available service plans, visit any Apple Store, AT&T Wireless, or Verizon authorized reseller.
