How to Share, Secure, Print, and Publish Google Docs
If you're like me, you probably remember SneakerNet: Save your work to a floppy disk and run it over to your buddy who needs to contribute to the work. With networks and email, that's all long gone. In Google Docs you'll just save the work and define who can access and edit the file.
Users can also monitor who's accessing the file and what changes they've made. There is a subtle difference that you'll need to know: Sharing allows others to access and edit the file while publishing publishes the doc as a web page.
You can configure Google Docs to be shared with people and groups in the school or with people outside of your school. Shared Docs also have to edit the level of access people can have in the document; choices are defining a new document owner, editor access, or just viewers.
When users share a file, the people that have access to the file will see the doc appear in their Google Docs Doc List, in bold, and with a cute "New!" attached to the file. Sharing a Doc also means that you can embed the file in a website, email the file, and print the file.
