Setting Up a New Facebook Group
Facebook lets you create an unlimited number of Groups. It’s actually quite easy.
To create a new Group, go to your Home page and click the Create Group link in the sidebar. This opens the Create Group dialog box, shown below. Enter a name for your Group, then click the icon button to choose from the icon you wish associated with the Group.
Next, you get to add people to your Group. Start entering Friends’ names into the Members box; the names of matching Facebook Friends will appear as you type. Click a Friend to add this person to the list, and repeat until you’ve added all the Friends you want in this Group.
Finally, you need to decide whether this is an Open, Closed, or Secret Group. With an Open Group, all members and content are public; this kind of defeats the purpose of having a group. A Closed Group, which is the default, keeps all content private although the member list is public. If you want to keep everything – members and content – private, select the Secret Group.
When you’re done with all this, click the Create button.
Facebook now displays your Group page, like the one below. Click the Set Up Group button to select a picture for the Group, and you’re ready to go.
